Following is a summary of typical installation and costs.

Concrete or Clay Pavers

Pavers are placed over a compacted crushed rock base and a one inch layer of sand. Once installed, pavers are ready for immediate use.

Cost: Moderate

Usually installed over existing soil or a sand base. Must wait 5 to 7 days before use.

Cost for stamped concrete: High

Cost for ordinary concrete: Moderate

Typically asphalt is installed over a compacted aggregate base. You should wait 3 to 5 days before use.

Cost: Low
